Christians should live by faith not fate

Living is more of spiritual than physical, because the physical realm is controlled by the spiritual realm.

In this sense, whatever happens or is about to happen to anyone is (and can be) controlled from the spiritual realm. The implication of this, now, is the need to determining the power that controls one’s spiritual realm.

Undeniably, Satan remains the prince of this world until Jesus Christ returns, “And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye

might believe. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me”, John 14:29-30, KJV.

That Satan is the prince of this world justifies why there are so many calamities in the world. Although, all the troubles, wars and rumours of war, terrorism, famine and various atrocities are to antedate the Second Coming of Christ – one power must be responsible for whatever happens in one’s spiritual atmosphere.

Two types of power: here is one that should control one’s spiritual realm

There is a continuous enmity between light and darkness. It must, however, be clear that we are not referring to the physical light and darkness that one can behold with the naked eyes.

It is a figurative expression which the Bible used to describe the Kingdom of God (as light) and the kingdom of Satan (as darkness): these two are in charge of what happens in the lives of their followers.

For a Christian, he or she is guided or controlled by the Kingdom of God, which is light, while the kingdom of Satan, which is darkness, guides or controls the sinners.

Notwithstanding, a number of those who are supposed to be under God’s guide have surrendered themselves to the devil. Rather than live the life of faith, they have subjected themselves to fate – being ruled by the gains and the desires that are temporary.

Life of faith ‘VS’ life of fate

When we use 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”, KJV, to support the definition of faith as ‘the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’ and Heb 11:1, we will understand that to be a Christian is to live a life of denial to so many things.

You might be expecting several good things from God as His child, and yet, there could be delay – by faith, it means that you will not be deterred: you will not lose focus, strength or neglect to serve and worship God. You will also not seek out alternatives; you will premise your life on the abilities of God and accept nothing beyond the standard of what God plans for you.

Someone might be bothered on whether God really have standards when He is not a man, but it is something that you need to believe.

If God did not have standard He would not ask you to do some things and avoid some other things: He would not give us His word, the Bible, to guide our steps into the truth: He will not mandate His servants to tender His flocks until Christ returns in glory.

As people that live by faith, we will understand (through studying of God’s word) that nothing evil is in the plans of God for our lives and that we are not to live, daily, accepting evils that come with each day. This is because, the thoughts of God towards us are awesome, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”, Jer 29:11, KJV.

On the other hand, the life of fate is a life of uncertainty – marred with evil occurrences. Even, fate is described as ‘an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future’.

With this, we can say that living by fate is to live a life of ‘fatalistic philosophy’ which has been defined to be any of the following ideas:

  1. The view that we are powerless to do anything other than what we actually do: man has no power to influence the future, or indeed, his own actions.
  2. An attitude of resignation in the face of some future events which are thought to be inevitable.
  3. That acceptance is appropriate, rather than resistance against inevitability.

These are why people usually make statements like ‘accept for God’; ‘God knows why it happens’; ‘God gives and He takes’, especially, if a child died; and so on.

In fact, some people will have bad dreams or receive negative visions from so called prophets – declaring some evils in the nearest time, and majority of the people will settle with those things, accepting such evil visions as what will, eventually, happen.

This is not supposed to be, for those who are God’s children – living by faith.

By faith, we are to denounce any evil dreams or visions without struggle or running atop mountains for many days’ fasting and prayers (as if there were no jobs on ground to complete): here is why we must delight ourselves in studying God’s word to know the truth; to know the minds of God for each season in our lives.

Here is grace personified

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”, Titus 2:11-13, KJV.

We want you to know that to live the life of faith requires a fellowship with God: you must be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour – to start enjoying God’s divine intervention, guidance, relationship and fellowship.

Here, please, say the prayer below:

Thank you Father of all grace that, today, I am a partaker of your grace. I give myself to you Lord: order my steps in your will all the days of my life. In Jesus name I prayed, amen.

Lastly, we implore you to get a Bible, join a church (that teaches the truth of God’s word), be prayerful, set God’s word as the standard for your life, and also preach the word of God – as guided by the Holy Spirit.
