I am inundated anytime something happens to a person and people start to say things like, ‘it’s the work of the wicked people’: what wicked people – for God’s sake?
Although, I am not denying the fact that wicked people (both spiritually and physically) exist, but the point I want you to see is that they know their mincemeats.
Unarguably, everybody is a target of this wicked people: whether you are born again or not, they might just want to prove a point in one’s life, but then, there is an authority which sits us above them.
The holy scriptures clearly states, “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.” Colossians 1:13-18, ESV.
This authority is for everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
The reason the above is so true is because, God (having created us in His own image) desires to have fellowship with us (something which sin has denied everyone): as a result, God provided a way out.
He gave us Jesus Christ who died as the propitiation of the sin of all nations, and His death covers all generations of men, including those who died before Jesus’ time and the unborn children.
Now, the result of Jesus’ death is the salvation of the souls of those who believe in Him – no matter the type of life once led. Hence, the Bible refers to those who believe in Him as new creation, “From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come”.
It is glaring, therefore, that accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is a new identity which qualifies us for the authority that Christ has released.
He himself released the authority to us
In Matthew 28:18, it is written that “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”, while in Mark 16:17-18, He said, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover”.
In other words, there is no power of hell unleashed that should be able to unsettle our lives if we were saved by Jesus Christ.
Our safety lies in Him, any amulet (given by the world) cannot ultimately provide security to us, but Jesus Christ is able to (not only provide our security), but to (also) guide us by the Holy Spirit, in the journey of life – so that we rule in the midst of the enemies of God who had made themselves enemies to us.
You are not through yet
I will like to call your attention, my reader, to something. It is called salvation through grace – by faith in Christ Jesus.
This call is not for those who had accepted Jesus Christ before…
To accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour must be the confession of your mouth, and the belief of your heart. Therefore, I want you to pray to Him that you believe in Him, and that He will reveal His will to you, always.
