While the whole world is agog with technological advancements and the theme of globalisation on one hand; it is also gripped with fear on the other hand owing to rising cost of living, food shortage, climate change, terrorism, wars and, even, globalisation – yet, one thing to realise is that ‘this is the right time to express life in the kingdom of God on earth’.
Kingdom lifestyle, simply put, is dominion: it is expressing the Excellency of Christ in anything one does, it is to be distinguished from mediocrity, abject poverty and frustration because while men may be saying that there is casting down – there is always lifting up in the kingdom of God (Job 22:26-28).
What is this kingdom lifestyle all about?
The Bible says, “Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another”, Romans 14:16-19, NKJV.
Deducing from the above passage, the kingdom lifestyle would be one that is not desperate about what to eat, this is apt! We are in a dispensation where men forgo their integrity and honour for the sake of money and the need to put food on the table, however, to be able not to run after the kind of food and provisions that are capable of making one to despise his/her salvation requires that one possesses the fruits of the Holy Spirit, namely: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Furthermore, for anyone that is in a paid employment but unable to make ends meat, it is required that considerations be given to side-hustle or alternative source of income, probably, through own business or franchising. After all, there is no one without a gift of talents from God.
How to live the kingdom lifestyle
Agreed, the kingdom lifestyle is not only on drinking and eating but you should know that whoever has to let go of his morality in order to eat is not expressing the life of the kingdom of God. Moreover, a father who is not able to provide for his family is not even close to lifestyle in the kingdom of God (1 Timothy 5:8).
To this end, the kingdom lifestyle is to be expressed in totally taking charge in life by exploring one’s potentials to the fullest to the point that one might, through God, be self-sustaining: this will help each believer to do more for God while easing pain on his/her immediate environment. Meanwhile, the kingdom lifestyle is beyond the reach of anyone who is yet to accept Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Saviour.
This means that whoever is yet to accept Jesus, though might be rich, famous and self-sustaining – will keep experiencing an unexplainable hollow in his/her life because such person is operating under ‘hardheartedness’ of which M. Lucado says:
Hardhearted people are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no sense of shame. They life for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impunity.
However, for those that are already in the kingdom of God, even though they might face tribulations, there is an insulin for them against frustrations, shame, diseases and sicknesses, untimely death, accidents, lack and poverty among other debilitating occurrences (John 16:33).
In addition, there is a provision for those that have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour to do so. According to D. Willis, “If you never understand why things have happened in your life, just keep walking with Jesus”. This is important because Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world who understands the situation of all men, as a matter of fact, Jesus died in anticipation of man’s acceptance of His love for the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved”. John 3:16, NKJV.
All that is required of you, if you would like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour is, only, to surrender yourself to Him so that He begins to lead you aright.
Pray this prayer:
Father I am sorry for running away from your grace all these years. Today, I return to you – accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Give me strength to carry through life my identity with you, in Jesus name I prayed. Amen.
To grow in the decision that you have just take, please, join a church by the leading of the Holy Spirit, but more importantly, read your bible daily, pray to God daily, tell about others about Jesus Christ (as often as possible) and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life daily.
